Who we are
Beast Hunter is a free Discord bot that removes a known image scam from Discord servers. It is run by one person, Orient ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the bot does with data when it is in your server or when you post in a server that uses it.

What data the bot handles
The bot stores very little. Images are checked in memory and never saved.
| Data | When | What happens to it |
|---|---|---|
| Images in a message | Only messages (or forwarded messages) with exactly 4 image attachments | Downloaded, compared to known scam images in memory, then discarded |
| Fingerprints (SHA-256 hashes) of confirmed scam images | When a scam is detected | Kept in memory to recognise identical reposts; erased when the bot restarts |
| All other messages | Always | Ignored and never stored |
| Server settings: server ID, chosen channel IDs, custom message texts | When a server manager uses /bh commands | Stored in the bot's settings database |
| Username, user ID, server ID and channel name of an account that posted the scam | When a scam is detected | Written to the bot's technical log, and to the server's log channel if the server turned reports on |
When a scam is detected, the bot may also send that user a private message explaining how to secure their account. When the bot joins a server, it sends the server owner one welcome message.
Why the bot needs message access
The bot uses Discord's Message Content intent only to see image attachments, so it can find and remove the scam. It does not read, store or analyse the text of messages.
The bot never sells data, never uses it to train AI models, never builds profiles of users and never shows ads. The only purpose of the data is protecting servers from this scam, which is also our legal basis for processing it (legitimate interest).
How long data is kept
- Images: not kept at all; discarded right after the check.
- Scam image fingerprints: until the bot restarts.
- Server settings: until the bot is removed from the server, or a manager runs
/bh reset. Removing the bot deletes that server's settings automatically. - Technical log: up to 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Reports in a server's log channel: these are ordinary Discord messages in that server, controlled and deleted by its moderators.
Sharing and hosting
We do not share or sell data to anyone. The bot runs on a Google Cloud server in the United States, and all communication goes through Discord. Both act only as infrastructure providers. We would disclose data only if required by law.
The bot links to a Ko-fi page for optional tips. Payments are handled entirely by Ko-fi under its own privacy policy, and the bot receives no information about who tips.
Beast Hunter community server
If you post scam images or screenshots in the Beast Hunter Discord server (for example in #missed-scams or #false-positives), we may keep the scam images and add them to the bot's reference set. We crop out usernames, avatars and other personal details before doing so. If you link Ko-fi to Discord to receive the Supporter role, that link is handled by Ko-fi under its own privacy policy.
This website
This website is hosted on Firebase Hosting (Google). It uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and loads nothing from third parties. To deliver the pages, Google processes standard technical request data such as your IP address, as any web host does. If you switch between light and dark mode, that choice is remembered only in your own browser.
Your rights and changes
You can ask what data the bot holds about you or your server, or ask for it to be deleted, by contacting us at the address above. If you are in the EU, you also have the right to complain to your data protection authority. Server managers can delete their server's settings at any time with /bh reset or by removing the bot.
The bot is meant for use under Discord's own age requirements. If this policy changes, the date at the top will be updated.
